Michigan Family Owned
Oakland Tree Service was established at its current location, 2525 S. Livernois, in 1967. The company was founded by Adolf Kipper. Prior to that Mr. Kipper served as a climber for the Pontiac Forestry Department. Over the years OTS had been awarded annual contracts with Cranbrook schools, Bloomfield Twp, Beverly Hills, and more recently the City of Rochester and Rochester Hills.
Mr. Kippers son and daughter- in- law, Jon and Sherry Kipper took over the business in 2003 and are the current owners.
In 2006 OTS was awarded a contract by the city of Rochester to remove over 200 diseased ash trees from city streets and parks. This also included trimming, cabling and stump removal on at least 100 other trees. At $120,000, this was the largest contract ever awarded by the street and parks department. The job was completed on time and within budget within 90 days.
In addition to cities, we have been contracted by many subdivision associations, Condominium and apartment complexes, and industrial sites. The bulk of our business still remains with private customers.
The general manager of OTS is Mark Stender. Mark's 32 years of tree tending experience shows in all our jobs. Mark has a Bachelor of Science degree and is an expert in every area of trimming, diagnosis, cabling and removal. Mark is on site at every job. OTS carries workman's compensation and has never had a claim in over 40 years.
